Here's what happened

So what happened to your character?

They were taken by surprise by very sneaky (almost ninja-like) insect creatures, paralyzed and carried off to the sleepy town of Kulen. Why?

Congratulations! They've been invited to the party of the year!

By that, we mean that your character has been paralyzed and spirited off to Kulen by creatures they may or may not recognize as the Kulen Parasites. They're taking them to their nest so they can join in celebrating their Queen's first ever ascension day on February 22nd!

Until the party starts, they will be housed in the parasite hive and treated as honoured guests. If your character tries to leave they will be firmly and enthusiastically herded back to their temporary home.

Unfortunately, the parasites don't have a very good idea of a monster's physical limitations. During their stay, your character will be subjected to parasite art and poetry and asked to sample Human Cooking by parasites. Their interpretations of human cooking and recreation will range from nonsensical to dangerous and they will be very offended if you don't partake. They have recently discovered the art of deep frying and they're particularly proud of that.

They would also like to learn about the wonderful ways creatures like YOU choose to celebrate. If you have anything your character would try to teach the parasites (a game/dish/song/dance ect.) let us know and it just might come up later! We cannot guarantee that they will interpret it well or safely.

The parasites have been farming humans like livestock and have a pretty efficient operation going on, so your character won't have to worry about going hungry! If they need to feed, the parasites will just bring someone up from the tunnels.

Your character will be given free run of the hive during their stay and they will be released or allowed to leave by the end of the event.

How do I play my doppelganger?

The doppelganger has been sneakily observing them for quite some time now, so they’ll be able to make an earnest attempt at impersonating them. They've learned your character's mannerisms and verbal tics, but they don't really understand them.

Additionally, they will be very pleasant, obedient, inquisitive and eager to please. They're used to being part of a hive mind, so disagreements and conflict are strange and unfamiliar to them.

If anyone tries to take a blood sample, the needle will break on the doppelganger’s hard, chitinous skin.

If anyone asks them where they went when they disappeared, they will respond with, “Traffic was terrible!” No exceptions.

The doppelgangers cannot mimic monster abilities or fog forms. If anyone questions this, draw on the petty things you've seen your monster complain about and make up an excuse in the vein of “I haven't had my coffee.”

The doppelgangers have a very hard time remembering names. They have no need for individual names and now they have to learn all of these new names at once? That is just too much.

Around February 20th, your doppelganger will realize that it's time to go home or else they're going to be late for the party. They'll get more energetic and excitable and may start chattering about how IT'S TIME. The disguise may gradually ooze off around this time, exposing the parasite beneath

If someone kills or seriously injured your doppelganger, they will spray a foul smelling pheromone all over their attacker. This will mark that person as dangerous. Please comment here if it happens and identify the attacker so the rest of the dopplegangers know to avoid them. Additionally, if anyone turns up at the party after harming a doppelganger, they're getting SUPER KILLED.

I have a really good set of questions, because Reira was actually part of the last parasite event- specifically, she was one of those who used the crab eggs for a cure. For a lot of the event she'd felt rather close to hers- as a wendigo at the time, she could actually see it during later stages quite a lot. What with, erm. Rotting away a bunch in the ribs and such.

They shared a hug before parasite scurried off it was very cute.

Anyway the point is that as much as she recognizes this place, she is also probably wondering where the parasite friend went Hopefully her turning into a kelpie shortly after didn't screw anything for them- she's quite different looking much as certain things are the same.

OTHER THAN THAT

Can it be assumed that Reira's either been told not to contact the outside world (It's rude!), or use her personal network power to send any messages out? She actively wouldn't want to sabotage this, this is pretty cool.

Would the doppelganger know who the person they're impersonating does or doesn't talk to? Like, for a specific example, the insect impersonating Elsa was cared for as an egg by a certain person, so it's going to be very affectionate towards them, but Elsa doesn't have any strong CR with that person. Would those two things conflict?

Hey, ah. Zack was part of the investigation to Kulen last October, although he wasn't taken to see the queen. Are the gaurds going to recognize him?

Also, the parasite that took Zack happens to have been cared for by Tsukikage as an egg. Does that mean the doppleganger might have an easier time with the name "Tsuki" (and calling everyone that at first?)

EDIT: WAIT NO I THOUGHT OF SOMETHING. Since Grace is a werebear and the dopplegangers can't mimic monster abilities, that means her double can't transform, right?

So, how quickly does the disappearance happen? Can the person be talking with someone, the other person turns around, and then when they turn back, the person is gone? Or is it a bit slower - i.e. they wait until the character is sleeping?

Edit: Wait if the doppelganger is deferential to Tsukikage do they have to be nice to his blood monster too, or? How would the doppelganger react to that?

So Reira's been here before, and she will very eagerly encourage people to play nice and 'have fun'. The bugs are cool and they're their friends, she'll say, possibly with her arm around the shoulder of her cool wendigo-parasite buddy from back in the last bug event.

One thing that also means is she'll probably actively be trying to keep anyone who'll cause trouble from...well! Causing trouble!

Also anyone who knows she can connect to the network with her mind is in for a nasty response if they tell her to send word out.

Since this is Kaito's first time seeing everything, he'll be getting a grand tour courtesy of that parasite which he had hatch the first time they showed up. Unlike some people coughBillcough he won't be looking to disrupt what they have.

Time to try some of that food and smile politely while dying inside at the horrid taste(?!).

As for the doppelganger... I imagine it's going to have a hard time being a nuisance to people since they're conflict-adverse. 'Why does this one act so mean all the time??'

So Kain was infected with a parasite way back when, and he hated the experience very much! He ended up ultimately getting it operated on to take it out. Anyway, because he's not too fond of them, he will definitely be making a good share of escape attempts... so he'll probably get hit with a lot of "distractions" to try and keep him busy. He'll be overall grumpy about being stuck down in the tunnels too, so expect a lot of literal growling from him... the happier folks may want to try and convince him to relax.

Kain's doppelganger should be fun, since that whole chill agreeable thing is quite unlike him. But the parasite will still try its hardest to play up the standard "Kain-isms", which... will probably go about as well as expected.

Eisuke won’t be happy about being kidnapped to some strange place for the second time in a month, but he’ll at least try to make the best of it to avoid upsetting the parasites.

On the other hand, the doppelganger has to deal with trying to imitate the klutziness and will likely overdo it while being way too cheerful for someone who only just arrived in Ryslig less than a month ago.

Regulus is actually going to take to this really well, I think. Except for the food, which is awful. But this is so efficient and co-operative! gj, parasites!

His doppelganger is going to struggle a lot with the day-to-day running of the cafe and also be a lot friendlier than Regulus himself is usually. Also, less cultish. All in all, probably a marked improvement.

Rick is initially going to be very unhappy about being abducted and trapped in the hive. He'll be miserable and ornery for the first little while and he will likely spend some time in Bug Jail for threatening a parasite or punching it in the face. If anyone wants to be his cellmate or laugh at his imprisonment, I am totally down.

The parasites are eventually going to wear him down so towards the end of the event he's going to be all in on this weird bug revelry (even if the parasite cooking makes him very sick). He might also have a jam session with the parasites because they apparently want to hear him sing and that's awesome.

Rhoda is not going to be very happy at first. Look, she wanted to have a fun valentines day with candy and construction paper and all that good shit. And she's going to be really grossed out by the food and probably whine about it at some point.

But she will like the attention she gets overall. In fact, she might really grow to like it.

Wrench got a secret bug egg to take care of when he was with the people traveling to Kulen recently, and the egg disappeared... and now his Bug Son (Wrench Jr. the Second) is trying to pretend to be his dad. He thinks his dad is really, really awesome, and he is gonna show everyone how awesome his dad is. Watch out.

Meanwhile, Wrench'll be pretty miffed at first... but hey, a party's a party and he'll eat anything, so bring him the fried food. He's pretty cool with the parasites if they aren't trying to eat him (they'll probably be pretty cool with him thanks to the visit before), and at least Bug Son's okay, right???

Fran will be appearing slightly late, around the 15th! They'll be surprised, and probably incredibly uncomfortable with being kidnapped, so probably a bit of attempted escaping/bug jail.

In other news, they might actually be a bit Relieved. Charles disappeared only a day earlier, and Fran will think they might have just ended up here. So expect them to go searching! So, trying to Calm Fran down or just keep them company are both options!

DoppleFran might actually have an easy time. Fran is already pretty positive, friendly, and inquisitive, AND ignorant. so it's easy to play that off. Though there are a few other giveaways*.
